Kazansky, Gennadi

After finishing his film studies in 1930, Gennadi Kazansky found work as a director's assistant at Lenfilm studios. In 1937 together with Maxim Ruf he made his first film, The Golden Taiga. During World War II he worked as a director at Mosfilm studios. After the war he returned to Lenfilm, where he participated in the making of a biography of famed composer Rimsky-Korsakov. In 1961, Kazansky along with Vladimir Chebotaryev made one of the most famous features in the history of Russian film, The Amphibian Man.
