Kichwatel

In consideration of recent conversations about sci-fi/speculative fiction in continental African cinema, here's an experimental short film titled Kichwateli (Swahili for TV-head) from self-taught Kenyan animator/graphic designer/film director Muchiri Njenga. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic African slum and city, and takes the viewer on a spiritual and metaphorical voyage through a young boy's dream, mixing visual art, graphic design, animation and live action, blurring the lines of reality and fantasy, including imagery of a young boy with a live TV as his head, used to show the effects of media on a young generation.
